Lift Descriptions Vertical 2-Inch Bar Deadlift (2 Hands)

Vertical 2-Inch Bar Deadlift (2 Hands)

Official Rules

Records will be kept for this lift where two vertical bars and two hands are used to perform the lift. The rules of the Deadlift apply with these exceptions. Any vertical bars of 2-inch (51 mm) diameter may be used. The bars must be constructed from smooth pipe or a solid steel shaft; no knurling is allowed on the bars. The total length or height of the vertical bar when standing can be up to a maximum of 30 inches (76 cm). Any style of deadlifting stance may be used, including straddle lift, side by side, or in front of the legs. The bar and weight stack must be lifted clear of the surface and held motionless, demonstrating full control. At the top of the lift, the lifter’s legs must be erect and straight (locked out). Once the lifter has achieved lock out and the weight stack is motionless, the Head Referee will give a “Down” command. The bar must be returned under control to the platform.  Officials Commands: Down

VI.D. Deadlift Rules

The lifter must face the front of the platform with the bar horizontally in front of the lifter’s feet, gripped with an alternate or double overhand grip in both hands and lifted until the lifter is standing erect.

On completing the lift, the knees shall be locked in a straight position and the shoulders erect with the shoulders, hips and ankles in a straight vertical body position. At the completion of the lift, the Head Referee will say “Down!” The command will not be given until the bar is held motionless and the lifter is in the upright/vertical finished position.

Once the attempt has begun no downward movement of the bar is allowed until the lifter reaches the erect/vertical position with the knees locked.
