Standing Bar Hoist (Flag Raise)
Official Rules
The lifter places one hand inside the collars touching the sleeves, the other hand must remain on the 2-inch (51 mm) bar sleeve. Once the end of the bar comes off the ground, it may not touch the ground or the lifter’s body during the lift. Only the hands are allowed to touch any part of the bar during the lift.
When the lifter is in position, the Head referee will say “Start.” Then the lifter will raise the barbell from the floor to an upright/vertical position using only the strength in their hands. If the bar touches the ground for any reason during the lift it is a failed attempt. Once the bar is completely vertical, motionless and under control, the Head Referee will then give a “Down” command to finish the lift. The lifter can then grab the bar and lower the weight under control to the floor. Officials Commands: Start, Down
