Deep Dish Plate Deadlift
Official Rules
This lift is restricted to the Raw classification. Equipped attempts are not permitted or recorded. The rules of the Deadlift apply with these exceptions. The lift begins with the lifter using their fingers to grip a plate on each side of the bar. Any size bar may be used for this lift; it is recommended that the weight be slightly outside the legs for the best grip possible. The plates used to grip must be no more than 2 inches (51 mm) deep. The deep-dish edges of the plates may be turned outwards to provide a better gripping surface. A spacer/collar must be placed between the first and second plate for the fingers to get under the edges of the deep-dish plates without touching the other plates/weights. Once erect and vertical the head official will give a “Down” command. Officials Commands: Down
VI.D. Deadlift Rules
The lifter must face the front of the platform with the bar horizontally in front of the lifter’s feet, gripped with an alternate or double overhand grip in both hands and lifted until the lifter is standing erect.
On completing the lift, the knees shall be locked in a straight position and the shoulders erect with the shoulders, hips and ankles in a straight vertical body position. At the completion of the lift, the Head Referee will say “Down!” The command will not be given until the bar is held motionless and the lifter is in the upright/vertical finished position.
Once the attempt has begun no downward movement of the bar is allowed until the lifter reaches the erect/vertical position with the knees locked.
