Atlas Stone Plate Lift
Official Rules
The Atlas Stone Plate Lift allows any size steel plate to be used; rubber or bumper plates are not permitted. Basic chalk (magnesium carbonate) is allowed for this lift; no other type of grip aid is permitted. A 2-inch (51 mm) loading pin shaft is used for this lift. The gripping surface is determined by the larger 100 lb (45.36 kg) 45 lb (20.41 kg) or 25 lb (11.34 kg) plates the lifter chooses to use in this lift. Smaller plates may be used but not as part of the gripping area.
The lifter will straddle the weight and may place their hands on the edges of the plates or underneath the plates. The lifter may roll the hands under the plates to assist with grip, and it is acceptable for the hands to touch one another during the lift.
The weight must be lifted from the floor to a horizontal position above the waist until it is motionless. Once the weight is motionless and under control, the head official will give a “Down” command. The edge of the weight may rest on the lifter’s belt when the weight is held motionless above the waist.
Please note that the weights for this lift must be lifted from the edges of the weight plate, which is required to be standing upright, vertically. The plates may NOT be lifted lying flat on the ground. Officials Commands: Down
