Lift Descriptions 24-Inch Zercher Lift

24-Inch Zercher Lift

Official Rules

The bottom of the bar height will be no more than 24 inches (61 cm) off the ground. The lift may be performed from a power rack, blocks or any stable support system. A towel or bar pad may be used on the bar for lifter safety. Chalk is also allowed on the arms during this lift. The lift begins on the platform when the bar is deadlifted to the knees or thighs and lifted upright from there. The lifter may also lift the weight directly from the 24-inch (61 cm) platform height.

The bar will be secured in the crooks of the elbows, and the lifter will then stand upright with the weight and the arms going outward from the body. The lifter may choose to have the arms inside or outside the legs. The lifter may also lock the hands together or keep them separate. After standing upright with the weight and the body completely vertical, the Head referee will give a “Down” command. The bar must be returned to the platform under control for the lift to be complete. Once the bar is below the knee level the lifter may drop the weight, but their hands must follow it to the ground.
