8. International Membership and Data Processing
OTSO welcomes members from around the world. However, due to the centralized data storage and operational location of OTSO, please be advised of the following:
- Primary Jurisdiction for Data Handling: All personal data collected from members, regardless of their country of residence, is stored and processed exclusively within Canada, as we utilize a Canadian-based website hosting company. The handling and protection of your data will be governed primarily by the privacy laws and standards of Canada.
- Data Transfer Consent: By becoming an OTSO member, you consent to the transfer of your personal data to, and its processing in, Canada.
- Policy Scope: As stated in Section 7 (Policy Changes), this policy is reviewed and updated to ensure compliance with evolving standards in both Canada and the United States of America. However, OTSO does not guarantee that this policy is compliant with the specific data protection or privacy laws of any nation other than Canada.
- Member Responsibility: International members are responsible for understanding the implications of transferring their personal data to Canada under their local laws.
