OTSO Drug Policy
Old Time Strongman Organization Inc.
Date: November 11, 2025

The Old Time Strongman Organization (OTSO) is a drug-free strength organization committed to promoting fair and safe competition. By becoming a member, all lifters agree to abide by the following drug policy. This policy is designed to deter the use of performance-enhancing drugs and ensure a level playing field for all athletes.
1. Membership and Acknowledgment
All members must sign and date the OTSO membership application, which includes an agreement to adhere to the OTSO Drug Policy. Membership eligibility is governed by the terms of the OTSO MEMBER FORM, RELEASE OF LIABILITY, WAIVER OF CLAIMS, ASSUMPTION OF RISKS AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT, which excludes residents of the Province of Quebec. By signing, the lifter acknowledges and accepts the terms of this policy, including the potential for penalties should they violate its provisions.
2. Drug-Testing Protocol
While OTSO is committed to drug-free lifting, it acknowledges that drug testing can be expensive and may not be feasible for all events. The OTSO leadership reserves the right to implement drug testing at any competition or event, or out-of-competition, without prior notice to participants.
- Banned Substances: The policy focuses on deterring the use of anabolic agents and testosterone. A complete list of banned substances can be provided upon request.
- Testing Procedures: All testing will be conducted by a certified laboratory chosen by the OTSO leadership. If a lifter is selected for testing, they must cooperate fully with the testing process. Refusal to cooperate may be treated as a positive test result and will incur the same penalties.
3. Exceptions and Appeals
An appeal for a specific medical exemption may be made to the OTSO leadership team prior to a lifter being selected for a drug test. The lifter must provide documented medical evidence supporting the request. This is reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and the final decision is determined by a majority vote of the OTSO leadership team.
4. Penalties for Positive Test Results
A positive test result or refusal to cooperate with the testing process will result in the following penalties:
- First Offense: A one-year suspension from all OTSO-sanctioned events. All awards, records, and titles won at the event where the positive test occurred will be forfeited.
- Second Offense: A lifetime ban from all OTSO-sanctioned events.
